The Library
OPENING TIMES: Every breaktime, lunchtime and after school until 4pm.
Reading for pleasure changes children’s lives. Children who discover their own love of reading are happier and hold the foundation for success in almost all areas of adult life.
Our school library provides access to a wide range of resources for leisure and learning and is a very popular space used by the students for a variety of activities. As well as holding a large selection of books it also has a small computer suite and is a quiet place for students to complete their homework, revise or read.
The library is completely free to use. Students can borrow two items at a time, which need to be returned or renewed after two weeks. We also have a large number of jigsaw puzzles that the students can borrow.
Throughout the year, the library hosts different events including author visits/workshops, creative clubs, wellbeing activities and book fairs.

Student Librarians
We have a fantastic group of Student Librarians who support other students every break and lunchtime, help to keep the library well-organised, recommend new books and promote literature across the school.
Book Buying Scheme
We have recently signed up to a fantastic book buying website called www.lovereading4kids.co.uk.
If anyone purchases a book from them, 25% of the cover price can be donated to our school and will be used to buy new books for our school library.
Simply choose Penair when you go through the checkout process and the funds will be allocated to us.
By using this site, we have already been able to buy over £600 worth of new books.
Book Donations
Reading for pleasure relies on children being able to find something they want to read. Children are five times more likely to finish a book they have chosen themselves, but at the moment we don’t have either the volume or quality of titles to offer students enough choice.
We have created wish lists of books that we would love to be able to stock so that we can appeal to as many different tastes and interests as possible.
We know that life can be expensive, but we would be tremendously grateful if you would support us in making a difference to the lives of Penair students. We are also always pleased to accept good quality second-hand books to improve our reading material.
