ASC Champion Bespoke 1:1

ASC Champion Social Wellbeing Group

Summary of Intention: Group sessions used to develop understanding of social dynamics and interaction, perspective taking and to improve executive function skills. Emphasis is given to emotional responses and interception skills. Sessions are planned to use a person-centred approach.

Expected Outcomes: To support students with an ASC diagnosis to develop their executive function skills and to be able to recognise emotional responses in themselves and others.

ASDAT Anxiety Group

Summary of Intention: Students identified through RONs, staff and parental referral. This is a six-week bespoke intervention designed to build on students understanding of anxiety, the effects and masking. Strategies are suggested to help students manage anxieties.

Expected Outcome: To provide students with an emotional toolbox allowing them to manage anxieties associated with school and social demands.

ASDAT Transition Focus Group

Summary of Intention: Student identified through diagnosis and RON. Students meet with the ASC Champion and a member of the ASDAT team in a small group. Areas of school transition discussed and evaluated according to student experience and opinion. Discussions are used to identify areas of anxiety and success within the move from primary to Secondary.

Expected Outcome: Students’ voice heard and strategies put in place to support successful transition to secondary school. Our intended outcome is a positive start to pupil success at Penair School.
