Inclusion/SEN
“We believe every student has the potential to thrive and achieve greatness. Each individual brings unique talents and creativity, and we are committed to nurturing these qualities. Our school champions inclusion, ensuring that everyone feels valued and engaged. In a calm, caring environment, we support the social, emotional, and intellectual growth of every young person, empowering them to succeed and flourish.”
At Penair, every student is entitled to an inclusive education. We achieve this through strong partnerships between school and home, working collaboratively and maintaining open communication to meet each student’s needs.
Students who require additional support are added to our Record of Need, ensuring staff understand their barriers to learning and the strategies needed to access our broad curriculum. Progress is closely monitored by teachers, Heads of Faculty, Directors of Learning, and our Director of Inclusion, Kate Finlay. Students can be placed on or removed from the Record of Need at any stage, with parents fully involved in the process.
Our aim is to provide positive learning experiences and equal opportunities for success and enjoyment for all students, whatever their additional needs. Support may range from tailored classroom strategies to targeted interventions, social skills development, or specialist support through initiatives. Teachers receive ongoing training to ensure they can meet diverse needs effectively. Where further support is required, we work with external professionals, such as Educational Psychologists or the ASC Team, and may offer bespoke timetables with specialist providers.
