Carolyn has been a primary school teacher for 24 years and has taught in a variety of schools across the country. She still loves teaching and the thrill of seeing a child succeed and enjoy learning. She has also been a governor for 12 years through her leadership role at Archbishop Benson. Carolyn’s governor experience has included working with the governing body and with committees on Curriculum & Assessment, Finance and Communication & Engagement.
As a teacher, Carolyn is passionate that our children continue to build on the great foundations in learning that they have experienced in their earlier years at primary school. She recognises that our education system is currently facing great challenges, including financial pressures, changes to curriculum/ assessment and reductions in support to schools and welcomes the opportunity to support the governing body in continuing to develop and build on their successes.
As a parent, Carolyn has been really impressed in how well the students at Penair are supported socially as well as academically, provided with opportunities to enrich their learning experiences and are inspired to do their best.
As is every working parent, she is pretty good at prioritising and thinking on her feet!
To relax, Carolyn enjoys exploring and camping in our beautiful county with her family. She’s also partial to a potter in the garden.
